In partnership with Northrop Grumman Women's International Network, Cassie was able to get volunteers to help at the Hawthorne STEM Super Saturday! Students from elementary to middle school were able to build a variety of projects from radios to pendulums and more!

Engaging Girls in STEM

Cassie is a board member and ambassador for the annual LACOE Engaging Girls in STEM event! Cassie helped secure other ambassadors as well as one of the key notes speakers. She also served as an ambassador herself mentoring young women personally and then sat on the women in engineering panel.









City of STEM 2023

Los Angeles State Historic Park
Cassie attended the annual City of STEM event in Los Angeles. This is the largest STEM event in Los Angeles! Cassie was honored to be one of the official City of STEM YouTube hosts for the event. Cassie spent the day interviewing all the booths at the event to bring awareness to their business/organization as well as to the various areas of STEM. She was also able to reconnect with State Senator Bob Archuleta.



Emerson Elementary Career Day

Cassie had a booth at the Emerson Elementary School Career Day! She was able to share about her job as a Space Engineer to over 300 students. She also brought heat pipes and space blankets for the kids to see!



ABC County Next Generation STEM Club Keynote Speaker

Cassie was the keynote speaker for the ABC Unified School District's Next Generation STEM Club Carrer exploration event! She gave her "Turn up the Heat!" presentation to over 100 middle and high school students and spoke about the scholarship opportunities of the Miss California Volunteer Orgnaization.

Drones Day!

Downey Columbia Memorial Space Center
Cassie volunteered at Drones Day at the Space Center! Cassie helped teach girls how to fly, navigate, and control their drones. She also learned about a local mathematics and science school in Long Beach. This school has started the first drone soccer club in the area!






Tincher PTA STEM Night

Tincher Prep School
Cassie volunteered at the Tincher Prep School PTA STEM Night! Her activity taught K - 2nd Grade the planets in our solar system and their order from the sun!




GSOC Race Car Design Challenage

Cassie helped Girl Scouts design, build, and test their own race cars! Girl Scouts learned about the forces of gravity and friction!

Cassie helped Girl Scouts build their own rockets! After some decorating they were ready for launch! Girl Scouts were able to launch their own rockets while learning about aerospace engineering!





Irvine Career Conference

For the second year in a row, Cassie spoke about Thermal Engineering and the James Webb Space Telescope to 7th grade students for the IUSD. She also discussed how students can get involved in STEM early to build their resumes and about the scholarship opportunities of the Miss California Volunteer Organization.


Northrop Grumman & Girls who Code

Cassie partnered with Northrop Grumman's Women's International Network and Girls who Code to virtually mentor future engineers across the United States.

GSOC STEM Expo

Cassie helped host the annual Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Expo. She helped coordinate between 40 exhibitors and over 200 girl scouts. The STEM Patrol group was also reconginzed by Senator Dave Min and Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris.



CDE STEAM Symposium

Cassie gave a 30 minute break-out session called, "Turn up the Heat" where she disuccessed how to bring thermal engineering into the classroom! She also discussed the James Webb Space Telescope and the Miss Volunteer America Organization. Additionally, Cassie spoke about SpACE Girls and introduced the keynote speaker Danielle Wood.

This included info about SpACE Girls as well as a game where students would roll the dice and be asked a STEM question to win candy! Cassie also spoke about STEM and the Miss California Organization on the Women in STEM Panel.

In partnership with the Columbia Memorial Space Center, Cassie attend the City of STEM which had over 10,000 people in attendance. There she networked with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal Allard, Senator Bob Archuleta, Assemblywoman Christina Garcia, and Councilwoman Claudia Frometa.
Cassie was also recognized by Senator Archuleta on stage!
Cassie also moderated a panel about the importance of having a diverse workforce!

On March 20th in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Orange County and the Newport Whales Cassie helped put together an Eyes on the Ocean event where Girl Scouts learned how to use microscopes and learned about ocean careers!

Cassie spent 2 days at Hawthorne High School where she presented to 7 engineering classes about Space Thermal Engineering and the James Webb Space Telescope.
Afterwards she presented to the Female and LGBTQ+ Engineering club about overcoming stereotypes and mansplaining!

Cassie met virtually with the CSU LB Society of Women Engineers chapter at their first general body meeting! She spoke about resume building, career fair and interview tips, as well as the transition from college to the workplace!

Race Car Design Challenge
01/22/2022
Anaheim, CA
Cassie hosted a Race Car Design Challenge in partnership with the GSOC STEM Patrol. At this event Girl Scouts created their race car out of cookie boxes and raced them down a ramp trying to go as far as possible.
The Girl Scouts were taught about the engineering design process when they were able to make additions and changes to their race cars and retest. They also learned about how forces, friction, and gravity affect their race cars.

21st Century Career Conference
Cassie Roby attended as a career conference speaker and presented Space Thermal Engineering 101!

Florida STEAMposium 2021

Official Statement from Florida Department of Education:
"These are exciting times in the world of STEAM in the state of Florida. As the plans for this summer continue to evolve, the Department has come to the difficult decision of postponing the STEAMposium event scheduled for June 22-24, 2021. This is not a cancellation, but a postponement. We are very invested in the STEAMposium as we have grown this project over the past few years."

The 34th Annual Engineer It! Competition will be held in person with virtual options available at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium!
Engineer It! is an annual engineering design competition jointly presented to students in grades 1st - 12th by the Florida Engineering Society & the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. $5,000 in cash and prizes awarded to winners in elementary, middle and high school categories!
